KRC ANNUAL RUNS
Besides the weekly runs, the KRC usually has a number of recurring annual races and runs; these include:

COMMANDO BAY RUN
The annual Commando Bay run takes place in the beautiful Okanagan Mountain Park in late Spring, in 2025 the run took place on June 21st. Runners start as early as 5:30am but you can choose whenever you wish to start. You get to choose how far you want to run. It is an out and back trail run which is 26km in length if you go all the way to Commando Bay and back. It is possible to turn back at any point in time. Runners start with a rocky uphill followed by lush green areas and a scenic canyon before a beautiful exposed descent to the beach.
NOTE: For 2025, we offered boat pickup from either Commando Bay (13km) or Indian Rock Beach Access (26km) so you could run the route one way, just like in the old days! Details for 2026 are being confirmed and will be announced soon.

Meet at 6850 Lakeshore Rd. located 3.5 kms past Rimrock Rd. Suggested meet times are between 5:30 and 7 am. Please let us know if you need a partner/group to run with and we’ll link you up with someone of a similar pace.
This is a FREE event followed by a pot luck refreshment breakfast at Bertram Creek Park.
This is a trail run with some technical sections. All runners are encouraged to run with a partner or group. Carry at least a cell phone, water and food/fuel. Dress appropriately for the weather. Although facilitated and coordinated by KRC, this is not a formal, official event. All participants do so entirely at their own risk.
2025 was the milestone 50th anniversary of this event!
MIDSUMMER 8K
Welcome to the Midsummer 8K 2026 — where championship racing meets summer celebration in the heart of the Okanagan.
Set against the sparkling shoreline of Lake Okanagan, this flat and fast course showcases the very best of Kelowna, BC. Whether you are chasing a personal best, competing for provincial honours, or soaking up the electric race-day atmosphere, the Midsummer 8K delivers an experience worthy of the world stage — with the warmth of a true community event.

KVR TRESTLE RUN
The annual KVR Trestle run takes place in August up in the hills on the old Kettle Valley Rail (KVR) route. Watch the events calendar closer to summer for more details.
Runners start from the KVR parking lot at Myra Station, located at the junction of the KVR and Myra Forest Service Road (FSR). You get to choose how far you want to run. It is an out and back flat trail run. It is possible to turn back at any point in time.

The Myra FSR, an 8km dirt road climbing up from McCulloch Road to the KVR Trail, is a right turn off McCulloch, ±2.8km past the entrance off McCulloch to Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Estate.
This is a FREE event followed by coffee by KRC with potluck breakfast/snacks by participants.
This is a relatively easy trail run. nevertheless, all runners are encouraged to run with a partner or group. The trail is at approximately 4000 feet ASL, so dress appropriately for the weather. Although facilitated and coordinated by KRC, this is not a formal, official event. All participants do so entirely at their own risk.
LARRY NICHOLAS 8.2K TRAIL RACE
The Larry Nicholas 8.2km Trail Run is a fun day including the main 8.2km trail route in Mission Creek Regional Park, as well as a 1km kid’s race. This park is a wonderful retreat where you can transition from city to the trails in minutes.
The Larry Nicholas Memorial Cross-Country Race has been a stalwart of the Kelowna Running Club and Interior Running Association cross country race series for over 30 years.


100K VIRTUAL CHALLENGE
The March Virtual 100k is an annual virtual event that challenges you to run at least 100km over the course of a month. Every run you do can be logged online and we host a prize draw for all the finishers after the event. This is totally free to participate in but to be eligible for the prize draw, you must be a registered member of the club. You can find more details on our event page
